Cookie policy

This page describes the cookies and similar technologies used on this documentation site (doc.dronefield.app). It is intentionally short because we use very few cookies, and none of them track you.

Short version. This site sets one cookie, only to remember whether you prefer the light or dark theme. There is no analytics, no tracking, no third-party scripts, no advertising — and no cookie banner, because no cookie here would require consent.

Section titled “What is a cookie?”

A cookie is a small piece of data that a website asks your browser to store on your device. Cookies have no executable code; they are just identifiers that let a website recognise the same browser across requests.

Section titled “The cookie we set”

This site sets only one cookie:

  • Name: the theme preference cookie set by the documentation framework (Astro Starlight).
  • Purpose: remembers whether you choose light mode or dark mode, so the site loads in the right theme on your next visit.
  • Type: first-party, functional, persistent.
  • Expires: approximately 12 months from the moment you change the theme.
  • Legal basis: legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR, combined with the functional-cookie exemption of Article 5(3) of the EU ePrivacy Directive. The cookie contains no personal data beyond your theme choice.

If you have never opened the theme switcher, the cookie is not set at all — the site simply follows your operating system’s light/dark preference.

What we do not do

This documentation site does not:

  • Run Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, Hotjar, Plausible, Matomo, or any other analytics tool;
  • Embed Facebook Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, Twitter Pixel, or any other social-media tag;
  • Set advertising or retargeting cookies;
  • Use fingerprinting scripts or session-replay tools;
  • Embed third-party widgets (no embedded YouTube, no live chat, no share buttons) that would carry cookies;
  • Track you across other websites.

You can verify these statements in your browser’s developer tools: only the single theme cookie above appears, and no network requests are made to advertising or analytics domains.

You can clear the theme cookie at any time:

  • Through your browser’s site-data settings for doc.dronefield.app;
  • Or by clearing all cookies in your browser.

Clearing the cookie simply resets the theme to the system default; there is no other effect.

Changes to this page

If we ever add a cookie to this documentation site that would require consent under EU ePrivacy law — for example, an analytics cookie — we will introduce a cookie-consent banner before activating it, and we will update this page accordingly. The current state is: one functional cookie, no consent required.
