What DroneField does

DroneField is a complete, locally-running drone-processing application for drone-spray service providers, precision farms, and commercial surveyors. A single tool covers the full pipeline from drone imagery to DJI Agras / XAG / tractor-compatible application maps.

The classic high-resolution RGB orthomosaic, ready to view in the built-in map view or export to QGIS. The target GSD is configurable between 3 and 20 cm/px (default 5 cm/px).

Generated from the photogrammetric surface reconstruction — the digital surface model with contour lines and colour-coded elevation ranges. Ideal for assessing canopy height or understanding the terrain.

From imagery captured with the DJI Phantom 4 Multispectral or Mavic 3 Multispectral, DroneField computes the following vegetation indices:

  • NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index)
  • GNDVI (Green NDVI)
  • NDRE (Normalized Difference Red Edge)

Values are visualised with preset ranges: Healthy stand, Stress, Weed, Water/Soil — switchable with a single click. Export to PNG, JPEG or GeoTIFF (QGIS-compatible).

Draw polygons and circles, or import them onto the map:

  • Field boundary — the outer contour of the treatable area.
  • Obstacle — tree, pole, overhead wire that the drone must avoid.
  • No-spray zone — riverbank, neighbouring plot.

Import from: KML, ESRI Shapefile (SHP) in any projection (EOV, WGS84, UTM and everything else PROJ recognises), or from a previous DroneField project.

Export to: DJI Agras (drone or USB), ISOXML V3/V4 (drone or USB), XAG drones, ESRI Shapefile.

The vegetation index panel’s AI analysis button opens a short wizard, then the Luna assistant picks the most suitable index, zones the field, proposes per-zone doses with an agronomic explanation and generates a PDF report with an expert approval block. See AI vegetation analysis.

Click the field on the orthomosaic and the on-device segmentation model draws the field boundary — refine it with + / − points, no internet needed. See AI field boundary.

From the vegetation index, DroneField generates a gridded application map with a single click. You assign zones (e.g. less fertiliser to the healthy stand, more to the stressed parts), enter the litre/hectare or kg/hectare values, and export to:

  • XAG Spot Spraying
  • XAG VRA precision map
  • DJI VRA precision map
  • Hardi VRA Shapefile
  • ABZ Innovation (L-S series)
  • PNG / JPEG image formats

The processed field as a smooth 3D terrain surface — with the orthomosaic or NDVI draped over it, orbit (showcase) animation, and MP4 flythrough export for demos and client reports. See 3D Map.

One click produces a professional PDF report of the project, covering the safety zone, RGB orthomosaic, DSM, vegetation indices, field boundaries and application map — ready to hand to a client or file in your archive.

The Start button (default) runs the precise, industrial-quality processing — Bundle Adjustment, sparse DSM, patch-based render engine.

Fast processing delivers a usable orthomosaic in a few minutes — ideal when you want a quick on-site check next to the drone.

We are upfront. Keep the following in mind:

  • DJI drones only (P4R, P4M, M3E, M3M, and in beta the M300/M350 RTK + Zenmuse P1). We need the MRK file for timestamps and RTK accuracy.
  • No cloud sync. Projects live on your machine.
  • Runs on macOS, Windows and Linux — with identical features.
  • Full 3D modelling (textured mesh, MVS) is not a goal; DroneField is tuned for precision-agriculture workflows.
